Traveling to any new place can leave us with unexpected challenges and hiccups, but your beauty routine should not leave you with any surprises! It’s hard enough leaving your bathroom, mirror and shower full of everything you need to get ready for the day, but traveling takes a toll on the convenience of getting ready and the way we look and feel. These beauty travel hacks have helped me in the past; they are simple, and sure to ease your beauty travel woes!
Manicure Hack
Get a clear moon shape at the base of your nails when getting a manicure before a long travel trip. Not only is it a cute look, but it ensures that your nails stay looking well-manicured even after they begin to grow out and the change won’t be so noticeable.
Dry Shampoo
Oily hair is never cute, but almost always bound to happen when going on long travels. Bring a travel-sized dry shampoo with you to help maintain the oil levels in your hair, maintain its volume and keep it smelling fresh.
Carry Face Wipes
Whether you wear a full face of makeup or none, have dry skin or oily, are a male or female, etc. travel with face wipes on your journey. Some airlines are so kind to offer hot towels to wipe your face, but it’s a hit or miss. Carrying face wipes will reduce the chances of bacteria on your face, and also help you feeling fresh the whole way. You don’t want to show up to your destination with a fresh pimple.
Choose an Isle Seat
If you are going to be meeting someone or have somewhere to be immediately after you arrive at your destination, remember to choose an aisle seat on your flight. This may sound pretty basic, but it has helped me so many times when in a rush. Getting up to use the sink or mirror before landing can give you the time you need to freshen up before that meeting or date, and it won’t bother the others in the aisle.
Invest in Face Oil
Your face and skin go through a lot of stress when you travel. Sometimes you can be on a flight and in airports for hours on end, sleeping against rough seats, exposed to various bacteria and your face can tend to become irritated. I love the Herbivore Lapis Oil because of it’s anti-inflammatory and moisturizing properties. It helps in reducing redness and keeping my face fresh. A few drops goes a long way, so use sparingly and this magic oil will last you a while.
Utilize beauty samples
Take a trip to Sephora or ULTA before you go on a trip to see what sample you can snag before your trip. Many times they will have great products in sample size containers, saving you the hassle of messing with your beauty products at home to switch to containers that are travel approved. Sephora typically has mascara or perfume samples that are the perfect size for travel so I don’t have to bring my large perfume bottle.
Hair Hacks
Braiding your hair can help minimize frizz, straightening your hair over curling it can also help you stay comfortable in flight, avoid hairsprays but embrace hair oils. Argan Oil by Josie Maran works great for taming frizz and restoring a nice smell and shine to your hair, and it comes in a handy travel size. If you are going on an extended trip and will be gone for more than 3 weeks, I recommend getting a fresh hair cut to make your hair easier to manage don’t be afraid to try a short style. Let your stylist know you want something easy to style and they should give you a beautiful yet worry-free look.
These are my favorite travel beauty products!
