They say to invest in items you will use often and a sofa is probably right up there with a mattress for the most used items in a home. When we completed our new build in Charleston, we ordered our dream couch from Sixpenny, The Aria Corner Sectional. Here’s our experience with it 6 months later.
We have had many couches from many brands and my goodness this is by far our favorite! It is so comfortable you guys!!!! We got the feather down and I don’t even care you have to fluffy it once in a blue moon, I do it like once a week and honestly, it doesn’t need more than that. In fact, every single one of our guests has commented on the comfort level and the color choice ( so happy we took a chance and went with the thread-dyed cotton linen in Nectarine Dream).
The Sixpenny Aria Corner Sectional is big (126”W x 126”D x 35”H) and is exactly the right size for the space. One inch longer and it would have protruded past the wall and that would just not be cute. We also love that this sectional is arm-less and modular. We have had it arranged all over the place only to end up loving it most in the original spot we chose for it.
One feature that has been key is having the pieces connect to each other using zinc alligator clips fixed to the underside. This comes in handy in keeping the pieces together when our toddler and our corgi jump from one piece to the next. Did I mention we have 3 pets that are always on the couch? nails and all, there have been no snags, and yes there have been spills but the covers come right off so not a big deal.
I would like to mention my husband is 6’5 and has always had problems sitting on couches but has no back problems after a Netflix marathon on the Aria sectional. The seat depth is great and the back cushions and smaller lumbar cushions make it so you don’t want to get up. We are so happy with our Sixpenny Aria corner sectional! This is our second from the brand (we also have the Amelia daybed). I would definitely recommend the brand for comfort, style, and quality.
Pro Tips for purchasing sofas online:
- order fabric swatched and look at them in a different light, have pets and babies walk all over them, throw them in the wash, throw some wine on them…do what you have to do to replicate your life and home and see how that fabric holds up.
- See if they have showrooms so you can sit on the couch. It’s a big purchase and something that needs to be comfortable for you. What’s comfortable to you might now be to another person.
- Look up reviews and specifically pay attention to the negative ones. If all the negative review seems to point to the same thing, I would ask the brand about it.
- See what their return policy is…. how much time do you have? can you even return it? is there a restocking fee? do you have to return in the original packaging (flatten and keep those boxes just in case)
