We all have reasons that toxins enter our skin every day, whether it’s through diet, profession, and/or environment. Sometimes it can be frustrating, feeling as if you can’t get your skin clean and rid of toxins without professional treatments, but that doesn’t have to be the case. There are some great ways to detox your skin right at home!
Dry Brushing- This technique is done with a firm brush with natural bristles, preferably with a long handle to reach all parts of the body. Brushing can be done all over the body every morning in a circular motion, starting from the hands and feet, moving towards the center of the body. After brushing, cleanse with a natural, pH balanced cleanser. This technique improves circulation and stimulates your lymphatic system to release toxins. Dry brushing is also exfoliating and can reduce the appearance of pores and cellulite.
Detox Bath- Two to three times per week you can take a bath to help remove pollutants from the skin. In a hot bath, just add one cup of apple cider vinegar, one cup of Epsom salt and soak in the bath for 20-30 minutes.
Exercise- Perspiration is one way the body eliminates waste. This can be personalized based on your fitness level, as long as you’re sweating, you’re eliminating toxins from your skin and body.
Deep breathing/Stretching- Taking deep regular breaths and stretching has a similar effect to dry brushing, by increasing your circulation it stimulates the body to release toxins.
Drink water- You’ve heard this before, but it is one of the best ways to flush toxins from the skin and body. Drinking water consistently also helps remove toxins from the digestive system. The recommended 8-10 eight-ounce glasses per day will do wonders, flushing toxins, hydrating skin, and reducing the appearance of wrinkles.
