In the world of beauty and skincare today there are so many different supplements, oils, serums, and creams it’s hard to know what to choose. You know I try and keep it real about what products are working best for me, but I also think it’s important to have general knowledge of a product before use because everyone’s skin is so different. Vitamin E is something we are always told is great for our skin, and Vitamin E oil has now become a popular skincare product. Vitamin E oil is easy to find, affordable, and has natural ingredients. But what are the benefits? Before I started using Vitamin E oil regularly, I wanted to fully understand what it was doing for my skin.
Anti-Aging: Vitamin E oil has the benefits of an antioxidant. Applying Vitamin E oil directly to the skin protects against free radicals which damage cells and can cause premature aging. Vitamin E also replenishes lipids in the skin which can reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
Anti-Inflammatory: Vitamin E oil’s antioxidant properties also work as an anti-inflammatory and can calm an irritable complexion and reduce redness.
Moisturizing: Using Vitamin E as an oil will provide moisture to the skin and can be used to treat dry, itchy, flaky skin and even eczema. This moisturizing property should also be kept in mind when using the Vitamin E oil on the face. While hydrating the face is always important, you do not want to use too heavy of an oil on the face if you have oily skin and/or acne. It is important to test your skin’s reaction to a heavy oil like this before applying to a larger area. If the Vitamin E oil is too heavy for your skin type on its own, many professionals recommend adding a couple drops to your daily moisturizer to protect your skin throughout the day.
If you do decide to incorporate Vitamin E oil into your daily routine it is best to apply in the morning to protect the skin all day, and pairing with Vitamin C products has been shown to further enhance its benefits.
