Ok guys, lets talk eyebrows!

The most common question I’m asked is what I use on my eyebrows. That’s simple, I use Anastasia of Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in soft brown.

I got my eyebrow genes from my dad’s side of the family and lets just say he has an over abundance of eyebrows. But no matter how thick your eyebrows might be, there will always be a need for a touch up to really make them pop.

Normally, I don’t wear makeup when I’m bumming around or running errands but I always will touch up my eyebrows. Well manicured eyebrows will make your facial features stand out without the need for any other makeup.

The reason I’m such a big fan of this company is because they have such a great variety eyebrow products. For example, my mom over plucked her whole life and now she has the thinnest eyebrows that will never grow back. So I have her use their brow kit. It has the essentials she needs to create a more prominent brow. Their stencils work great too if you can’t free hand well.

Now lets talk about eyebrow maintenance. I personally like to pluck my own eyebrows mainly because I’m a perfectionist and I would be the most annoying client trying to micromanage the lady doing my brows. Also, I am not a fan of thin eyebrows and I think if anyone ever over plucked mine I would get very upset. If I over pluck then I only have myself to blame. Anyway, although I have never gone and gotten mine professionally done (which I probably should have when I first started plucking), most of my friends have. It seems that eyebrow threading is the most popular among my friends. Its not as painful as waxing and more precise when it comes to shaping. I personally just prefer plucking at home as I don’t change the shape often but I do think that everyone should have them professionally shaped at least once and I’ll tell you why.

When I was younger, I had very very thick eyebrows. When I was in middle school and high school it wasn’t cool to have thick eyebrows. Now, we can all thank Cara Delevingne for bringing back the thick brows but back then it was embarrassing. I got made fun of every day. I would literally come home crying and my dad, being the “east european dad” he was refused to let me pluck my eyebrows. I think his exact words to my mom were “if she plucks her eyebrows the boys will come.” Well, he might of been onto something but still, I went through hell until my freshman year of high school when I came home and told my mom I didn’t want to go back to school because the kids were so mean and I felt like a freak because all the other girls were wearing makeup and came to school dressed like it was date night. Finally, my mom just decided to pluck my eyebrows a bit (my dad was less than pleased). However, she is a master over-plucker and between her pluck-happy ways and my fresh to the world of plucking ignorance, I ended up with eyebrows that looked something like this:

Yes, yes, that’s me in my freshman year of high school. Seems like a life time ago but I was trying to make a point: If your daughter will be plucking her eyebrows for the first time ever, please take her to a professional. My eyebrows didn’t look horrible but it changed the way my face looked and I didn’t like that. It took YEARS to get them back to the thickness I wanted. And growing out your eyebrows is like growing out your hair. There are some phases where it’s just not pretty. You have a natural brow shape for a reason. I believe that it’s what complements your facial features the best so I would stay in the realm of that shape and maybe just tweak it a bit. I highly recommend a professional at least once in your life. If I could ever get an appointment with Anastasia herself I would maybe think about letting her touch them 🙂
