Heat styling tools such as a straightener, blow dryer and curling iron are all quick and effective for getting your hair to behave the way you want it to. But too much heat tools can leave your hair damaged and much more frizzy and unmanageable in the long run. The best way to preserve your hair is to allow it to dry naturally. The main reason many of us don’t allow our hair to dry naturally is that it ends up being frizzy and unruly. If you want to preserve your hair’s natural shape without damaging it with heat tools and promote healthier hair, then these are some amazing products you must try.
- An Ultra-Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner
Frizz occurs because of a lack of moisture in the hair. That’s why when your hair is wet you do not have fly aways, but as it dried and for those extra hot conditioners, your hair gets unruly and frizzy. Taming your frizz starts at the wash, and for that, you’ll need to use a shampoo and conditioner that is highly moisturizing and nourishing to your hair. Dermae combined the beloved Argan oil and nourishing apricot seed oil to create this gentle shampoo and conditioner. This combo helped improve the look and feel of my hair on my very first try. I noticed it really helped to tame my frizzy baby hairs and made my hair shiny and soft. My hair hasn’t felt this healthy in a while!
2. Silk hair wrap
After you get out of the shower, towel drying it is the worst thing you can do if you’re trying to prevent frizz. The cotton strands from your towel may be effective at helping your hair dry quickly, but that back and forth movement creates stress on your hair strands and causes your hair to frizz. Instead, reach for a t-shirt and pat dry or squeeze your strands to remove excess water. Silke hair wraps are very gentle on your strands and it will prevent unnecessary frizz.
3. A moisturizing & texturing spray
Preventing hair frizz starts at the wash, but continues into the dry. Applying a spray until your hair after you exit the shower will help it not to frizz as it dries. Choose something that will lock in the moisture and natural texture of your hair such as Bumble & Bumble’s Surf Spray, Moroccanoil Frizz Control, Vernon François Leave~In Conditioner are all great sprays to tame your frizz.
4. Dry Oil
Add a dry oil or anti-frizz balm to your hair after the hair has been dried to help tame stubborn baby hairs and flyaways. Verb’s Ghost dry oil, Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum
and Frederick Fekkai Anti-frizz balm are all great products to apply to your hair after shampooing and conditioning. The small bottles can fit right into your bag and go with your for a touch up throughout the day.
5. A good hair mask
If you’re a DIY type, you can combine olive oil, an avocado, and essential oils of your choice to your scalp as a moisturizing and nourishing hair mask that prevents frizz. Some great masks on the market are those enriched with Argan, Morrocan and olive oils that are highly nourishing such as Aveda Damage Remedy Intensive Restructuring Treatment and Living Proof Restore Mask Treatment are both effective for restoring damage and taming the frizz.
