Breakouts and acne can be a nightmare and at the core of insecurity and self-confidence. When your skin goes out of balance you need a great breakout survival kit you can turn to when breakouts happen.
I was quickly reminded of that when I had an allergic reaction combined with an acne breakout all across my jaw. As a beauty blogger, that is my worst nightmare because it doesn’t allow me to create content and work, or review products or even wear makeup for that matter. Everything comes to a screeching halt and I try and figure out what made the breakout happen.
As you can imagine this wasn’t my first go around and I have a very specific way I treat my skin during a breakout. I call it my breakout survival kit and I’d love to share it with you.
Step 1: Stop wearing makeup. You can’y fix a problem by covering it up.
Step 2: Try to clean your skin morning and night. I would recommend using makeup removing towelettes then a gentle cleanser.
Step 3: I always recommend seeing a dermatologist if its not your usual type of breakout to make sure there isn’t another contributing factor. If it’s your usual type of breakout then time heals all but in the mean time here are some products I swear by that have helped me.
Step 4: Moisturize. Often times acne medication is extremely drying so you have to make sure you are moisturizing your skin. I prefer using gel moisturizers and serums on targeted sections of my skin not affected by acne.
Step 5: Be patient. It takes time to heal so let your skin breathe. Don’t try to cake on concealer on day 3 when you start seeing your pimple go down (unless you absolutely have to) and if you do…. try using my secret weapon for concealing anything…
The Bare Minerals original powder foundation is my go to for a seamless look when trying to conceal stubborn pimples. I love that its a powder instead of a heavy cream and its clean beauty but more so that a little goes a long way and it blends well into your skin so make sure you find your perfect shade.
I’ve also linked the concealer brush that is a must for me and while your at it get the Kabuki brush in case you love the foundation so much and want to use it all over your face!
If you are gonna start using the Bare Minerals powder foundation, I can’t tell you enough how awesome their Mineral Veil finishing powder is for creating that filter effect! Make sure to try it!
Look at the difference! i swear its amazing and I use it over a lot of other makeup.
