Happy International Women’s Day! There are many things I can say about this day, but what it really comes down to for me is supporting other women. It is so important for me today and everyday, to remember that with being a woman comes so much strength, but together we are even stronger. That being said, why not continue supporting women when it comes to skincare and beauty? I know I could not be where I am today without the support and encouragement of the women around me, and I think it’s important to continue that line of support, and pay it forward in all aspects of my life. There are amazing skincare and beauty brands that are owned and run by women, and other brands that make it their mission to empower and support other women.
Brands that Empower and Support Women:
Urban Decay: Has donated over 2 million dollars to women’s empowerment non-profits. Including: Women’s Global Empowerment Fund, Her Justice, and Equality Now.
Mūn: Woman owned by, Munemi Imai, this brand focuses on using natural ingredients. These ingredients are sourced with a union of women’s co-ops in Morocco. Profits from these co-ops fund tutors to teach the women how to read and write, scholarships for their children to attend college, and a fund that covers healthcare costs.
Abhati Suisse: Founded by a woman, Anju Rupal, this brand is green and focuses on sustainability. This brand gives back to the environment as well as women- they support reforestation initiatives as well as spearheading education programs in collaboration with Educate Girls.
Sara Happ: Founded and owned by Sara Happ, she has created my favorite lip scrub. Her brand gives 10% of its profits from the Sprinkles Red Velvet Lip Scrub to non-profit Baby2Baby as well as supporting HelpUsAdopt and The Cashmere Foundation.
Women Owned Brands I Love:
Drunk Elephant: This brand really can do it all, if you need the total package when it comes to skincare this brand is a no-brainer. The products are so high quality, but they even go the extra step and package the skincare so it can not be damaged or altered by light or air.
Tatcha: This brand has amazing hydrating products, their masks and moisturizers are great. I especially love their Water Cream.
Kate Somerville: This brand is one of my very favorites when it comes to cleansing and exfoliating. If you’re looking for a new weekly cleansing routine definitely check out Kate Somerville.
Charlotte Tillbury: She does it all from makeup to skincare she has really got the formula down. Her Magic Cream really might be magic!
Quai: I’m sure you’re familiar with this brand, but it’s actually that good! Jen Atkin has done it right, her line of hair products are great quality and easy to trust when trying to achieve great hair on a regular basis.
Beauty Blender: If you’re a beauty junkie like me, this company is part of your daily life. I bow down to Beauty Blender for making makeup application look much more natural and flawless!
Go-To: I love this cheeky brand, the packaging is as great as the products. Their Face Hero, Exfoliating Swipeys, and lip balm are some of my favorites.
These companies and these women inspire me and I am happy to share and celebrate them this International Women’s Day. Support the women in your life and women everywhere, together we are stronger, together we can make change happen.
