I am in love with nature. I don’t think that comes as a shock to anyone who has spent a minute or two going through my social media channels. It’s what gives me peace and clarity and rests my soul when I get caught up in the rat race. There’s just something about being surrounded by Mother Nature that completely warms my heart. It never fails to ground me and to remind me how lucky I am to be alive and how thankful I should be for the blessings in my life.
We all want to do better, be better, look better, WHATEVER…. but if you take a second and look around, appreciate the beauty of the mountains, the forests, the oceans, the night sky etc… it may make you forget all your worries and settle your mind and just maybe, for a brief second, give you complete clarity about what matters in life.
Or that might just be me. In any case, I wanted to compile a quick list of some hikes I’m dying to do in California. And if you guys know of any not mentioned here, please comment below with the details 🙂
1. Cataract Trail Loop in Marin County
You can do a 7-mile loop or go straight up to the falls but what’s the fun in that!
2. Skyline-to-the-Sea Trail, Santa Cruz Mountains
Over 30 miles through these parks from the top of the Santa Cruz Mountains to the Pacific Ocean.
3. The Mist Trail (Vernal and Nevada Falls)
When in Yosemite National Park.
4. Mount Tallac, Lake Tahoe
Beautiful views from 9,735 feet above sea level.
5. Mount Diablo’s Grand Loop
Bird’s-eye view of Bay Area
6. Sturtevant Falls (Pasadena)
An easy hike through the San Gabriel Mountains leading to a fifty-foot waterfall.
7. Marin Headlands, Golden Gate National Recreation Area
Has some historic sites as well as beautiful scenery.
8. The Lost Coast Trail
A 24-mile three-day backpacking trip along California’s most undeveloped stretch of shoreline.
9. Cathedral Lakes, Yosemite National Park
Two superb Yosemite lakes await you from the Cathedral Lakes trailhead at the side of Tioga Road
10. Eaton Canyon, Altadena
Heard its pretty crowded but worth a visit.

March 3, 2016Awesome list. I never considered myself a hiker until the past few years. Well, not that I’m really a hiker, but I love spending time getting lost in the mountains 🙂 as you said, it’s a nice escape from the rat race.
If you have time, can you do a blog post about traveling to Vegas for the weekend? What to do besides gambling and partying? If there’s anything left to do after that haha.
