Healthy Start Acai Bowl Recipe

Breakfast should be delicious, healthy and help you start your day right! This Acai berry smoothie bowl is the perfect way to get good energy, healthy protein, beauty benefits and put a smile on your face!

Recipe:

  1. Combine acai (frozen packets from your local grocer) and a bag of frozen, organic mixed berries in the blender with enough water to blend.
  2. Top with these healthy goodies below and enjoy for a healthy breakfast, mid day snack, or late night ice cream replacement!

 

1. Acai and dark berries

Mixed berries and Acai (also a berry) are the best sources of antioxidants, natural sugars for energy, are high in fiber and contain heart healthy fats. Acai also has been said to boost your skin’s health and aid in weight loss (1).

2. Natural Granola

Choose a granola that is low in sugar, and uses heart healthy nuts, seeds, and grains. Granola will add a great crunchy texture to your bowl and provide additional good fats and fiber to fill you up in the morning (2).

3. Coconut Flakes

Coconuts are a delicious additive to this smoothie, but make sure your flakes dont have added sugar. Coconut is high in fiber, vitamins, minerals, and amino acids including magnesium, and calcium (3).
4. Goji Berries
Goji berries are considered a beauty boosting food for their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits. They are often called a superfood because they can help you lose weight, fight disease and, well, they’re really yummy. (4)
5. Blueberries
Although you already should have some blueberries in your smoothie mix, top your bowl with some extra blueberries for flavor, and for an added dose of what good these little berries have to offer. Organic blueberries are high in potassium, folate, and Vitamin C (5).
6. Dark Chocolate Chips
Add lil dark chocolate chips to the bowl because A: yum, and B: because dark chocolate contains fiber, iron, magnesium, copper, manganese, zinc and selenium (6).
